Paper to Visual Explainer

Translate a technical paper into a clear visual narrative without losing the limits of the research.

Outcome
A five-frame visual explainer
Time
90–120 min
Level
Intermediate

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Set up the work.

Suggested toolkit

  • PDF reader
  • LLM
  • Image editor
  • Layout tool

You will make

  • Plain-language summary
  • Five-frame storyboard
  • Caption set
  • Source and caveat panel

STEP BY STEP

Run the workflow.

Work in sequence and keep each intermediate artifact. Review the result at every stage before spending time on the next one.

  1. 01

    Extract the claim

Identify the problem, method, comparison, result and limitation from the paper itself. Keep author wording separate from your interpretation.

  2. 02

    Choose one visual logic

Use a sequence for process, a comparison for results or a system map for architecture. Do not mix all three in one frame.

  3. 03

    Storyboard before styling

Give each frame one job: context, mechanism, evidence, implication and caveat. Test the story in text before generating visuals.

  4. 04

    Review against the paper

Check every number, label and causal claim. Add a visible source link and make limitations part of the explanation.
